You can apply for new passport using simplified renewal form if:
- you can present your most recent passport which was not reported as lost/stolen and it was issued with at least 2 years validity
- you haven't changed your name since last passport application
- last passport was issued to you when you were 16 years old or more
- your most recent passport is still valid or has expired less than 3 years ago.
All applicants aged 18 and over must lodge their application in person.

The emergency passport can be issued within 48 working hours once all requirements are fulfilled. This travel document will contain only 4 visa pages, has no electronic chip and the validity will be limited to a period between seven and twelve months.
It is the responsibility of the holder to ensure the travel document is suitable for travel to particular countries.
If travel is via or to a country other than Australia, please contact the respective Embassy of that country for entry and visa requirements. The Australian Embassy cannot provide visa information.

Amazing service! I missed my appointment as my phone showed the time in the wrong time zone. The lady from the consulate kindly moved my visit to later the same day, knowing that I have travelled far for the appointment. The support staff at the Embassy provided absolutely superb service. In the most efficient manner possible, and with calm and friendly manner, they obtained permission overnight from Canberra, and as I was finishing breakfast they had the documentation I needed. Most excellent. Furthermore, the location of the Embassy could not be better, being a short walk from the main train station, in a very modern, and very suitable building, with a perfectly

Great service, easy to book appointment and they were very helpful with the information about possible guarantors for my daughters passport.
The actual appointment was quick and although the original photo was not quite right they were able to help with a recommendation for a photo place conveniently located downstairs.
The process was quick and easy and the staff were lovely.
