You can apply for new passport using simplified renewal form if:
- you can present your most recent passport which was not reported as lost/stolen and it was issued with at least 2 years validity
- you haven't changed your name since last passport application
- last passport was issued to you when you were 16 years old or more
- your most recent passport is still valid or has expired less than 3 years ago.
All applicants aged 18 and over must lodge their application in person.

Please refer to passports' website to download the PC8 Overseas Passport Application Form and bring: two passport photos, the application form, any other ID documents you may hold. You will also be asked to demonstrate your need for urgent travel.
The emergency passport can be issued within 48 working hours once all requirements are fulfilled. This travel document will contain only 4 visa pages, has no electronic chip and the validity will be limited to a period between seven and twelve months.
It is the responsibility of the holder to ensure the travel document is suitable for travel to particular countries.
If travel is via or to a country other than Australia, please contact the respective Embassy of that country for entry and visa requirements. The Australian Embassy cannot provide visa information.
